Project Highlight
Mahogany Deck Expansion & IPE Reface
What started as a deck expansion turned into a full structural refresh and the result speaks for itself. The homeowner wanted to expand their existing mahogany deck and reface it with IPE, a dense, weather-resistant hardwood known for its rich color and long lifespan. Once we got into the project, we found significant rot in the deck joists - a problem that needed to be addressed.
We replaced the compromised joists to rebuild a solid foundation, then installed the new IPE decking. To protect the investment long-term, we also added proper venting underneath the deck, allowing it to breathe and helping prevent the same rot issue from creeping back in down the road. We finished the project with a protective oil seal to lock in that rich color and guard against the elements.
